Mission:

The mission of this working group is to describe, design and recommend a plan for implementation of the IT infrastructure for the digital library project including telecommunications, hardware, software and overall architecture and to provide the project with tools and utilities as needed.

Goals & Objectives:

1. To oversee the design and implementation of a robust IT environment for production of the DL Pilot Project that is scalable to support future DL projects and initiatives.

2. To maintain awareness of new technologies and make recommendations as appropriate.

Plan:

1. To assess current IT infrastructure within the Library and within the museum, building on existing efforts when possible.

2. To assess current network infrastructure working closely with Network Systems.

3. To define the IT requirements of the DL project.

4. To design an IT system adequate for implementation of the Digital Library.

5. To propose a costed plan for implementation.

6. To configure, purchase and install hardware and software.

7. To plan and implement ongoing support for maintenance, backup, redundancy and security.
